Hi, I’m Tonnie. I started out as a software developer, and while I still write code, I currently work as a data analyst in the hospitality industry. Alongside that, I also do data science research exploring the micro-financing space. Even though my daily work is deeply rooted in technical data, my interests tend to wander across a few different fields.
My background is in technology, I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science, but the more time I spend building these systems, the more I find myself wanting to understand the human side of the equation.
To bridge that gap, I’m currently taking a graduate certificate in Counseling. I’m really drawn to Human-Centered AI, essentially, exploring how people actually interpret and trust the algorithms around them. It’s a space where computer science naturally overlaps with psychology, looking at how our own cognitive biases affect how we understand data, alongside the broader psychological effects of the internet and AI models.
When I’m not looking at data or studying, my family run a small business in the toys and games market. Organizing gaming events and building that community has been a wonderful way to step away from the screen and connect with people in the real world.
I created this site because I wanted a quiet corner on the internet. Standard platforms are great for quick updates, but I was looking for a slower, more intentional space to house the things I build and explore the ideas I find interesting. I also wanted a place to share the fiction I write. I’m not a trained writer by any means—just an avid reader who enjoys creating stories as a hobby.
Ultimately, this is a place to document what I’m learning as I go and to share the stories I make along the way. I’m hoping it might also reach others out there who are interested in marrying computer science with completely different disciplines.
